Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve
In July 2013 several members of the Feathers and Photos Birding and Photography Forum attended a camp out at Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve. This 6,800 hectare reserve is located 35 km North East of Mudgee and is an important area with a high bird diversity. While the area lies on the Great Dividing Range it has a unique blend of flora and fauna varying between those found in the wetter areas of the Divide to the east as well as those normally associated with the drier plains to the west.
The following birds were photographed in the immediate area: Brown Falcon (Falco berigora) Brown Treecreeper (Climacteris picumnus) Chestnut-Rumped Thornbill (Acanthiza uropygialis) Crested Shrike-Tit (Falcunculus frontatus) Diamond Firetail (Stagonopleura guttata) Eastern Yellow Robin (Eopsaltria australis) Jacky Winter (Microeca fascinans) Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis) White-Naped Honeyeater (Melithreptus lunatus) White-Throated Treecreeper (Cormobates leucophaeus) Yellow-Plumed Honeyeater (Lichenostomus ornatus) Yellow Rumped Thornbill (Acanthiza chrysorrhoa) |
The following are links to stories, including photos, describing the encounters with some of the listed birds:
