Double-Eyed Fig-Parrot (Cyclopsitta diophthalma)

While staying at the Thala Beach Lodge which is located about 15 min south of Port Douglas in Nth Queensland on about 150 acres of private land on the northern end of Oak beach I had a chance encounter with a pair of Double-eyed Fig-Parrots. Late one afternoon I literally stumbled across this pair doing what fig parrots do best – feeding on figs. I was following some Bee-eaters at the time and happened to look up and notice these two. Had to be patient and wait for them to emerge from the shadows and foliage onto this particular cluster of fruit but it was worth the wait.
